Fabrication

Fabrication

The paradox of our design profession is that for centuries we have conceptualized in 3-D, and then used line, text, and symbols to express that concept in a 2-D form. The builder then tries to recreate designer's vision. The advent of precise off-site fabrication processes further complicates the matter. DKE realizes the major pieces were already in place in the steel industry to connect design and fabrication for significant construction advantage. In addition to bridging the traditional gap from structural engineer to fabricator, BIM is a significant tool to save time and money in the face of the increasing complexity of building structures, components and systems, and the use of off-site fabrication "kit of parts" approach.
